We are now navigating the eclipse corridor—the intense two-week period between last week's Solar Eclipse in Leo and next week's Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. This week's planetary influences take us on a journey from confusion and fog to clarity and reality checks, while the cosmos prepares us for radical shifts and transformations ahead.
This Week's Astrological Overview:
- Navigating the eclipse corridor: heightened sensitivity and altered consciousness as we move between two powerful eclipse events
- Mars-Neptune confusion early in the week giving way to Saturn's reality checks by Friday, especially in relationships and finances
- Mercury aspects stirring potential for both practical thinking and argumentative conversations depending on the day
- The Sun entering Virgo shifts our focus toward practical concerns and service while encouraging analytical detail-orientation
- Birthday readings for those born August 17-23 highlight authenticity, reinvention, and breaking free from others' expectations
Astrological Forecast:

Each week, astrologer Pam Younghans offers perspectives on the planetary influences currently at play. Consider this overview a compass to help you navigate both opportunities and challenges as they arise. Her insights are intended as guidance for reflection and empowerment, not as predictions. Your personal experiences will always be uniquely shaped by your birth chart and current transits.

Tuesday: Sun trine Eris
Wednesday: Mercury sesquiquadrate Neptune
Thursday: Mercury semisquare Mars
Friday: Venus opposite Saturn, Sun sesquiquadrate Saturn
Saturday: Sun conjunct South Node, Sun enters Virgo

Forecast: August 17 to 23, 2026
ECLIPSE CORRIDOR: We are now in the energetic crosscurrents of the two-week period called the eclipse corridor. Even as we ride the undulating waves of last week's potent Solar Eclipse in Leo, we are also navigating the ever-increasing vibrational frequencies of next week's Lunar Eclipse in Pisces (August 27-28).
We exist in a somewhat altered state of consciousness during the fortnight between eclipses. Everyday life may seem quite surreal, events unfold very rapidly, and perspectives can shift from moment to moment. At the same time, we are very sensitive on all levels—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—so even small issues could feel overwhelming at times.
The effects and karmic intentions of our recent Total Solar Eclipse are strongly highlighted next Saturday, when the Sun conjoins the South Node. The bright light of our central star will reveal even more of the shadow side of Leo, and could initiate the kinds of radical changes that the Lunar Eclipse—which is tightly square revolutionary Uranus—is meant to manifest.
CONFUSION & CERTAINTY: This week, the planets take us on a journey that begins in a bit of a fog but eventually brings us face-to-face with reality. We may be feeling somewhat lost or adrift to start the week with Mars in protective Cancer squaring transcendent Neptune on Monday. This aspect challenges us to soften the ego's overactive threat sensitivity, which often results in the fright, flight, or freeze response. Instead, we are called to take the initiative (Neptune in Aries) by going within, listening to our soul's directives and intuitive guidance.
By the end of the week, we are likely to be much clearer but perhaps also pessimistic about key issues, especially those involving relationship or financial matters. Venus opposes Saturn on Friday, representing a reality check in these areas. A lack of love or true connection may be felt acutely at this time, compelling some to make serious decisions. It may be best to take a broader view of any situation, making sure that the choices we make are fueled by a long-term need for change, rather than being based on short-term dissatisfactions.
CHIRON CONVERSATION: If you're interested in learning a bit more about Chiron the Wounded Healer, its role in both our natal charts and our collective experience, please enjoy my recent chat with astrologer Dabney Lawless of the Lawless Astrology Channel. We talked about Chiron's myth, discussed its transits of Aries and Taurus, shared how we each approach Chiron in our readings, and more. DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (August 17 to 23, 2026):
Monday
Mars square Neptune: We could feel uncertain about our best course of action with this aspect. It may be wise to delay taking action until the fog has cleared.
Mercury trine Saturn: This aspect supports realistic thinking and may be used to make practical plans in alignment with long-term goals.
Venus sextile Jupiter: Creative activities bring enjoyment today, especially those that are shared with others. This aspect can increase extravagance or indulgence, inspiring spontaneous purchases for self or others.
Tuesday
Sun trine Eris: The courage of their convictions inspires some to claim the spotlight today. Self-expression may be dramatic and stir controversy.
Wednesday-Thursday
Mercury sesquiquadrate Neptune and semisquare Mars: That confusion and heightened sensitivity we felt earlier in the week could resurface on these two days. Conversations might be unproductive or quickly become argumentative.
Friday
Venus opposite Saturn: We may feel frustrated or be aware of obstacles in either relationship or financial matters with this aspect. This is a time to be realistic about whether or not our investments of heart or pocketbook are bearing fruit. At the same time, it is important not to be overly pessimistic or to succumb to fear.
Sun sesquiquadrate Saturn: We might experience an internal struggle today, between the part of us that just wants to enjoy the moment and the part that knows the importance of being mature and responsible for the long-term.
Saturday
Sun conjunct South Node: Events that unfold now play an important role in this eclipse season. We clearly see the qualities that humanity must transmute if we are to evolve into a higher-vibrational species.
Sun enters Virgo: While the Sun travels through Virgo, from August 22 to September 22 this year, our attention is drawn to practical concerns and the ways in which we can be of service or contribute to our own or others' betterment. We tend to be more analytical and detail-oriented during this solar month, which makes us more aware of what isn't working. However, it is important to use this awareness to help us focus on the steps necessary to improve a situation, rather than falling into criticism and fault-finding.
Sunday
Neptune square Ceres: We may not clearly see the best way to use our nurturing instincts with this aspect. The tendency is to take on a rescuer or martyr role, based on a desire to see the best in another and to help them. Some of the lessons of this aspect are realizing that we can never save others, and that sometimes challenges are helping them hone their ability to take care of themselves.
Mercury trine Eris: Conversations are forthright today. People are not afraid to speak their truth, even if their opinions are controversial.
Sun trine Chiron: As we navigate this intense eclipse season, this aspect supports us in taking time for ourselves, paying attention to what brings us joy, and letting go of the seriousness for at least a few hours.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (August 17 to 23, 2026):
This year challenges you to be authentically yourself, releasing any remaining ways that you base your well-being on whether others approve of or applaud you. You may feel that you are reinventing yourself or could completely change some area of your life. It is a good time to experiment with new forms of self-expression, as a means of discovering who you are and what you really want—perhaps in contrast to who you thought you were or what you used to desire. While not everyone will appreciate the "new you," their reactions can serve to clarify that you truly are on your own path rather than living up to others' expectations. (Solar Return Sun semisquare Venus, square Uranus, trine Eris, conjunct South Node)
